Crafty Oakland Nature Friends Wedding

I feel so fortunate to have been apart of their crafty Oakland Nature Friends wedding.  The first part of their wedding day was spent at the Berkeley Botanical Garden (where Amber was a docent).  Their ceremony and reception was held at Oakland Nature Friends.  Squeaky cheese and other Wisconsin treats were provided by family for the cocktail hour and dinner was served by one of my favorite food trucks, Roli Roti.  Friends and family made them a quilt. There was much revelry and merriment to help Amber and Ben celebrate.

I met Amber in 2006 at a house party in San Francisco.  It was a backyard BBQ overlooking the City.  Amber started talking with my good friend and neighbor, Michael.  They were both from Wisconsin, and had lots to talk about.  She invited us to join her and her housemates for their weekly potluck at the place she was living – it was called the Potluck House.  For the next few years, I went there almost every Tuesday for a good home cooked food and interesting conversation.  It was a great mix of scientists and farmers and everyone in between.  My dog was always welcome.

Amber is an awesome person.  She made her wedding dress, cooks, travels, teaches, is generally fearless, and has a contagious laugh.  It makes sense that she was attracted to Ben. He has also travelled the world and seems to have done every job from bike messenger to set designer on the Oprah Winfrey show.  The two of them are unstoppable.
