Busy week here. After a morning meeting, I ran errands, took an afternoon nap, and then headed out to Maggie and Fernando’s house in the Oakland Hills. Their house is awesome. I love their vertical garden. We hung out, had some wine, and took a few pictures.

Just back from 9 days of camping in the Sierra Foothills, I hit the ground running with my first shoot of the week 14 hours after getting home. Welcome back to reality! Thankfully Claire and Philip were totally charming. We had fun taking pictures in Dark Park (Larkspur) – a park I used to play in as a child. Check it out.
In years past, it has seemed like I found myself shooting one or two weddings that broke the mold in some way, but for the most part they kept to a formula. Recently, I feel that people are becoming more brave, or adventurous, or feeling more free to make their wedding into the event that they want. Certain traditions carry on, but I see new ones forming, and old ones being sculpted to suit the needs of brides and grooms today. While this trending towards personalizing weddings can make my job unpredictable, I am stoked for the challenge and the newness that it presents. Wendy and Michael’s wedding was a mix of old and new. There were certainly some traditional aspects to it. And there was a fondue bar and candy buffet and games. We started shooting at 8am and were home for dinner. The vendors were all great. People seemed to have a great time. Event coordination was done by Downey Street Events, the wedding was held at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, the stylist was C.J. Poelman, make-up by Jennifer Gamez, florist – Amy Burke Designs, rocking string quartet – Elegant Touch of Strings, and officiating the wedding was Rabbi Nicki Greninger. And now for some pictures. Enjoy!
