My name is Gabriel. I am a photographer. I live in Oakland, California. My partner, Loretta, our two kids, Ellis and Zelda, our dog, Winnie, and I live in the 1880s Victorian that I have been restoring since 2003. Loretta’s sister, Julia, also lives with us. I love greens with poached eggs topped with red sauce and finely shredded cheese for breakfast. Pancakes and real maple syrup are good too. I love bacon. And to be honest, I have been eating a lot of oatmeal for breakfast lately. I am crazy about kale. Can you tell I am a little food focusses? Hot springs in the desert, backyard BBQs, weeding my garden, funny hats, neat socks, climbing things, trapeze, being productive, and finding cool old stuff are a few things that I get stoked about. My kids are pretty rad too. Loretta is amazing. I hate ants. I take my dog to the park in my neighborhood even though there is a sign that says "no dogs allowed."
I started making photographs in 1999. My first love in photography was shoes. No really. This obsession of photographing shoes was quickly taken over by an interest in kids and dogs. I like laughter, tears, sweetness, the hilarious and the passionate (but who doesn't). I am curious, adventurous, fun, whimsical, artistic, and unobtrusive. I like to keep it real.
In case you were wondering, I typically don facial hair between July and January. This has been a personal trend for the last 10 plus years. By the end of December my mustache is usually quite long and requires daily applications of mustache wax. My facial hair does not get in the way of my photography.
I would love to talk with you about photographing your wedding, family, or any interesting project you might have in mind. I mostly shoot in Northern California, but will travel for a fee. My wedding packages start at $2,900 (small 6 hour weddings) with 8 hour coverage plus goodies going for $3,800.
